9 For we are slaves. Yet our God has not forsaken us in our slavery, but has extended to us his steadfast love before the kings of Persia, to grant us some reviving to set up the house of our God, to repair its ruins, and to give us protection in Judea and Jerusalem.
The Philippines became a slave of several countries way back. In fact, my late great grandfather was one of those soldiers who fought the invaders. We have been taught about the captivity of the country since elementary until college so i am pretty much aware of it. Now, we are a free country since our Independence Day was proclaimed at Kawit Cavite on June 12, 1898.
But is liberty in our hands now? Physically maybe yes, no one is forced to work and serve the other races. Yet we might probably not notice that we are being under the yoke of this world. We are captives of sin. We sin here, we commit transgression there, and wrongdoings are everywhere. These things do not please God. But, in spite of all our sins, He still loves us so much.
If we want to be free from sin, we just have to ask God and surrender our lives to Him. If we think that we are being captives of worldly things, pray to God and He will protect us and give the strength to fight all temptations that come our way. He can purify our hearts and make it new. Do it now before it’s too late
