Yoking with unbelievers (Nehemiah 13:26)

26 Did not Solomon king of Israel sin on account of such women? Among the many nations there was no king like him, and he was beloved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel. Nevertheless, foreign women made even him to sin.

To sum up the verse above, the gist would pretty state “Do not equally yoke with unbelievers”. King Solomon was an obedient king but he started to commit multiple sins when he married women who had different goals and customs that contradicts the Word of God.

All the books about spiritual romantic relationships that I have read recommend that the person whom we are going to spend the rest of our lives should have the same faith as ours. How good it is to come to church as a whole family! There will be no conflicts with values and beliefs. You’ll serve and worship God together and you’ll all be saved. In time you are going to see each other again in heaven and that would be great. So, when a Christian wants to establish a relationship, he/she would assess first if they have the same faith with that person to save a bright and peaceful future. Never settle for anything less. God has something for you, someone who is best and not just the 2nd best. Thus, wait…It is good to grow old with the person you love with God at the center.
