There shall be no strange god among you;
you shall not bow down to a foreign god
I admire the courage of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego who were put into the furnace because of refusing to worship and bow down to the image the King Nebuchadnezzar had erected.
Their response to the King: “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the burning furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and He will rescue us from your hand, O King. But even if He does not, we want you to know that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set-up”.
Such bravery isn’t it? This is one of the characteristics that God wants us to have. How pleased He must have been upon seeing the three young men stand for what is right.
Let us be the Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego of our generation. We know who the true God is and we are all aware that He is a jealous God. Bow down, worship and praise Him alone. Put God on the top of the pedestal above all else.
