Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory,
for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness!
To God be the glory!”–this is what Christians utter when they are complimented or when they have attained a great achievement. It is the simplified phrase for saying that God deserves the honor for without Him I would not make it. Without His love and faithfulness what more can we do? Apart from God, we are nothing.
The Bible states, ‘Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord”. Our Father never wants a conceited believer. If there is one thing to be proud of, that is our God and his works. He gave the talents and skills we have. He allowed experiences and challenges to mold us. He provided our needs. He made things possible for us.
Men when down most probably will draw closer to God and ask Him for anything he needs. When that request is answered, only few remember to thank God say for instance the story of the lepers who were healed. We should not be like those nine persons who left without a word but be the one who will turn to God and give Him what is due.
For everything that God has done, He deserves the highest glory and honor. Give Him what is due. Thus, when being complimented, smile and say Glory to God!
