Where does my help come from?

I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
    who made heaven and earth

Everything we’ve got comes from the Lord. We may have received it through various means but all of these means were just instruments used by God. Say for example a child who wants to have a new jersey. He had prayed for it every single night. Do we think God will send the jersey directly from Heaven and the child will just catch it with his two hands? Of course not. God could use the parents, siblings, or aunts and uncles to give the kiddo what he prayed for.

Our help comes from the Lord, the Maker of Heaven and Earth. He knows our needs even before we ask Him. He hears every plea we utter.

If a person got toothache, will he go to a psychologist? If he got a disease, will he consult a veterinarian? If he wants to be counseled, will he visit an anesthesiologist?

Sometimes the reason why our problems are hard to solve is because we run to someone who is not expert in the field. If you are sick, go to the Healer. If you are in need, knock to the Provider. If you are lost, seek the Driver. If you want refuge, call upon the Savior.

Another reason is we tend to “self-medicate”. It’s comparable to the thought that you know everything. When we need help, we should ask for it. Do not carry the burden alone. Why should we make it hard for our self when the Expert is just a free call away?

Christians, we all do experience a tough life but God will always be there for us. In times that you wanted to give up, lift your head up high and know that there is God. Let us praise Him in the storm for He is who He is no matter where are we.
