A tie to remember (Proverbs 7:2-3)

keep my commandments and live;
    keep my teaching as the apple of your eye;
 bind them on your fingers;
    write them on the tablet of your heart

My elementary school teacher once narrated a story about a child who always forgot what to buy whenever he was commanded to go to the store. The effective solution his mother devised was putting a tie on his finger that whenever he cannot recall what to buy, he’ll just look at the tie and he’ll be reminded of what to purchase.

The mother’s instructions can be compared to God’s teachings. Often times we forgot to do what He wants. We forget to pray, obey, read the Bible, go to church, etc. For this reason, an effective solution should also be formulated. We must always remind ourselves to live by His commandments.

How to know what to obey when we don’t read His words, right? Aim to read the Bible every day. Put it in your planner or stick a note in your room to remind yourself about your quiet time.

Instead of sleeping all day, be excited to go to church on Sundays. Iron your decent clothes a night before and prepare your pen and notebook to jot down important words relayed by the preacher.

Ask God to remind us always about His commands to obey. We got the Holy Spirit to lead and convict us. All we have to do is put God in our hearts and that is the most effective solution I could ever think of.
