Seed of Vengeance

Do not say, “I will do to him as he has done to me;
    I will pay the man back for what he has done.”

Extermination of a family line is common in rural areas where political families battle for control of the province and close relatives of the opponent until there is no one left who cares enough to avenge their deaths. Their mottos, “An eye for an eye”, and “Do unto others before they can do unto you.” For them, a life that was lost is to be repaid with their enemies lives too.

Revenge—this is one of the reasons why we cannot attain world peace. Vengeance shouldn’t be in our hands. It displeases God and will just ruin our relationship with others. Review Tamar, Absalom and Ammon’s story for example.Tamar was raped by her half-brother Amnon, who refused to marry Tamar even though he took her virginity.When Absalom found this out, he became furious and planned to murder Amnon as a revenge for his sister. David was not please with what Amnon did neither with what Absalom had committed. So as the Father.

We shouldn’t plant a seed of vengeance in our hearts. Do not nourish any feelings of hatred and rage. Cut it out while it is still young and controllable. Learn to forgive just like what Christ did for our sake.

Ever been cheated? Ever been betrayed? Ever been fooled? You are not alone. Many are suffering from those too but they say positive and accept life’s reality. Vengeance is mine, God said. He is in control. I know for a fact that he doesn’t tolerate evil so those cheaters, betrayers, evil doers will not escape the negative consequence of what they have done.

Instead of focusing on how your plan of revenge will materialize, forget that thing and focus your life on God. Pray that he will change the enemies for they know what they are doing.Image
