For man does not know his time. Like fish that are taken in an evil net, and like birds that are caught in a snare, so the children of man are snared at an evil time, when it suddenly falls upon them
My early childhood days were spent in a place far from traffic jams and high technologies. Nevertheless, it was so enjoyable because people were contented with what they have. Our house was surrounded by fruit bearing trees and there were piggeries and fish ponds. With my uncles and brothers, we frequently cached fishes. We dig the earth to find earthworms that will serve as an object to tempt the fish into the bait. It took hours for me before I got one yet I was so happy. That was a simple childhood yet for me it was blissful.
Let’s talk about fishing. It was compared in Ecclesiastes that evil times come to man the way a fish is caught. The fish wouldn’t know that’s going to be the end of its life. Who would thought that eating an earthworm would be the death of you?
Unexpectedly, we experience evil times which could ruin our life and some had even succumb to death because of it. Crimes like rape, robbery, kidnapping and murder are some instances that had ruined life ever since. These had taken innocent lives and many families were left devastated and still cannot move on.
I for one had been a victim of burglars when our apartment was ransacked years way back. In such situations, we don’t have a choice but to call unto God. No matter what the result of the evil circumstance, God has a purpose for allowing it and He will let us surpass every trial.
Life is so fragile, it is extremely uncertain.
Knowing for a fact that we do not know when our time will be, there is one thing that we should all be certain of and that is if we are already saved. There are only two places where we will go after death—in Heaven or in hell. And it is not enough that we are saved, how about the others? Let us be an instrument that many will also experience Salvation.
