Seeking the Lord

The Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the earlier ways of his father David. He did not seek the Baals, but sought the God of his father and walked in his commandments, and not according to the practices of Israel.

2 Chronicles 17:3-4

A very common problem in the family is favoritism. Between siblings, rivalry is usual especially when one of them thinks that their parents love their brother/sister more than them. Instead of voicing this out to dad and mom, kids seek attention and advice from friends. Some even choose the wrong way and rebel. Will the parents be happy with this? Probably they are showing more attention to one child because that child is obedient and kind. Parents love their children fairly but of course, it is those who follow their commands that make parents’ hearts glad and proud.

Examine yourself. Are you the obedient kid or the rebellious child?

In connection, our Father in Heaven is also fair when it comes to His children. However, if we seek someone or something else, we will not be attentive to what He is saying nor we take His warnings for granted. And we wonder why life has been so problematic when in the first place, God commanded us to obey His words!

On the other hand, those who seek Him will find Him. If we draw closer to God, He will draw closer to us as well. To those who prioritize Jesus, the best is yet to come. If God is with us, we are sure that whatever trial this world brings, we will overcome.

Prayer: Lord, remind us to seek You first above all else. Convict us when we are going the opposite path and doing things that are not according to Your will.
