But Ittai replied to the king, “As surely as the LORD lives, and as my lord the king lives, wherever my lord the king may be, whether it means life or death, there will your servant be.” (2 Samuel 15:21)
Life is very vital. It is so ironic that while some are doing their very best to prolong life, expectancy, others just don’t care. There is an increasing number of individuals who are committing suicide. How horrible it is to know that a precious gift was gone in an instant because of the wicked world.
However, did you know that even we Christians will one day experience death? It is inevitable and we are not immune to it. In fact, there are Christians who were killed while spreading the good news. Mr. Jim Elliot, the first husband of Elizabeth Elliot, died while on a mission in Auca. To the people who are unbelievers, it may be thought as unfortunate and risky but to us, to die is gain because death commences our new life with Jesus in Heaven.
Obedience to authority and most of all, to God’s words, is one vital part of Christian living. Do not worry about your life for God will take care of it.
5 This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are also suffering— 6 since indeed God considers it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you
2 Thessalonians 1: 5-6
They say that the only thing that is constant is change, however, Hebrews 13: 8 states that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.
Back to the old times, people live in the caves, hunt animals for food and wear fur as clothing. There was no technology yet. Communication was tough. Life was simple. As the years go by, people learned how to innovate. There come science and the new innovations. People learned how to build houses. People learned how to cook and how to make clothes. People discovered the use of letter as a way of communication. There was a continuous discovery of how to make things easier. Change is abrupt.
Yet simultaneous with these innovations is the evolution of how people speak and act. There’s a huge difference in the way people of today live compared to the past. These changes affect how people think, behave, decide, and live life. Customs and traditions are slowly fading away. Morality is gradually diminishing. Life became complicated.
One of the things that people wants to change is the Word of God. Abortion was legalized when the Bible says, “Thou shall not kill.” Divorce was allowed when it was stated in His words that marriage should be for a lifetime. Same-sex marriage is now considered as a right to gays and lesbians when God said that marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman. And those who stand against the flow of this world are being mocked and bashed when all they wanted is to share salvation.
There may be pain in the night but joy comes in the morning. God will reward those who are obedient to his words. And those who believes in Him will receive an award of Salvation. However, those who afflict the children of God will be punished. Vengeance is in the hands of God.
So Christians, do not be afraid to stand what is biblically right. If God is with us, who can be against us?
For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.
Going to church every Sunday and giving our tithes and offering, do you think these is enough? Many Christians, you might observed, are physically present but mentally absent during church services. Offering our tithes is a responsibility that we must participate but it should not be enough for us. We should give only the best for our God.
God sees the heart. No matter how we try to hide our motives and wicked actions, He can see them all. If our only aim of going or attending services is for other people to see us, then we are just fooling ourselves. God wants us to be real for He is the truth. He didn’t even made giving tithes and offering compulsory. We can give what our hearts wants to give for He doesn’t look at the amount. Again, He looks at the heart. So if you are giving a big sum to please other individuals and to be recognize, better change your thinking.
Do not be a part time Christian. Walk in Spirit even if it is not Sunday. Live like Christ did when He became a man. Always read the Bible and meditate on it day and night. Be wise enough in knowing God’s desires. He is not a kid who will be glad enough to receive a toy in exchange of his parent’s lack of time and care. He does not prefer our monetary sacrifices in lieu of living righteously with him as the center. Spend every day involving God in all your doings. Be a full time Christian. Be a Christian in your heart and soul 24/7 not just during Sundays.
For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Lord GOD; so turn, and live.
All of us are God’s creation but not everyone are considered as His sons and daughters—this is a realization that was given to me by my cell group leader in church way back. Yet I know that God wants us all to be saved.
God’s vision is our mission. His vision is to save souls and we could fulfill that by disseminating His words to others especially to those who do not know Him yet and to those who haven’t surrendered their life to Christ.
Look around you. There are billions of people out there however only few had given their lives to God. Every person you see, meet and relate with is your responsibility. Every day, we are given the opportunity to share the gospel. Let us grab this chance. In this way we can show our love to God by obeying His commandments. Love your fellowmen, God said and the best way of showing our love to them is showing them the way to salvation through Christ Jesus our Lord. God is saddened for every soul that goes to hell. Unfortunate are those who are ignorant of the existence of God. But there are some who already know the truth yet had chosen to turn their backs on God.
We, the chosen ones have to fulfill on Earth what God envisioned. Our main purpose of existence is to spread His words. Do not be selfish just because you know you are saved you wouldn’t care of other people’s soul!Let your life be purpose-driven and that you find joy for every soul saved and not money-driven wherein what you aim is just your financial progress.
Be an instrument that many will turn to God and live a life focusing on Him and expect a great reward that awaits you/us in Heaven.
Whether it is good or bad, we will obey the voice of the LORD our God to whom we are sending you, that it may be well with us when we obey the voice of the LORD our God.
The secret of having a prosperous and blissful life is obedience.
If we are being guided by the voice of God and we faithfully follow His lead, then there is no way we will not attain a great future that God has for us. Why do we have to follow God and not go on our own? Because He is all knowing, He knows what’s going to happen from beginning to the end. He is the author of life. Believe it when I say that fathers want what is best for their children, how much more with God, our almighty Father?
When it comes to obedience, one particular biblical character whom I admire the most is Abraham. Because of his fear of God, He followed the father’s commandment of offering his son Isaac. He went to the mountain, made an altar and was about to offer his son when an angel of God appeared and stopped him. Instead of Isaac, a ram was offered. As a reward, Abraham was blessed abundantly and God made his descendants as many as the stars in the night.
When God says GO, we shouldn’t say NO. For He knows what is best for us. When we are being convicted to give up something, do it because a better one would replace it. For instance, a busy job that snatches too much time to the extent that we no longer have time to meditate God’s words is worth giving up if God says so. He will find a more suitable job that will give you enough time to do your devotions and pray plus, the wage would be too much for all your expenses.
If we put God first and obey Hos words, expect that life will be well.
But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you.Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord
When God says go who are we to say no?
One of the stories my mother used to share to us when we were still kids was about Jonah and the big fish. I could still recall vividly the picture of Jonah inside the stomach of the big fish in our bulky biblical story book. What would be the moral lesson of the story? When God days go, do not say no. Obedience is the name of the game.
When it comes to speaking, there really are those people who can easily perform the task of sharing what is their opinion or message to the public. However, a percentage includes individuals who are struggling when it comes to public speaking or even just talking to strangers. A short simple paragraph to read in front of the mass could weaken their knees making speaking a hard task.
I am one of those in the latter category. I am not good in speaking for I am afraid of the attention of many. Moses was in the same situation. He was not into public speaking. He reason that out to God and God was able to make a way. He used Aaron to convey messages to the Israelites.
God doesn’t look at the age, features, capabilities or status of a person. If He wants to use you, He will use you. Whether you are as young as David who fought the giant or as incomplete (physically) as Nick Vujicic who is sharing God’s word all over the world. Do not say you cannot because God can and will make a way just like what He did to Moses. Do not wait to be swallowed by the big fish before we obey.
God’s vision is our mission. His vision is that many will be saved and how can we fulfill that? By sharing His words to unbelievers, by being an instrument that they will know, accept and believe in Jesus, by praying for those who are still living in darkness to see the light.
You will say in that day: “I will give thanks to you, O Lord, for though you were angry with me, your anger turned away, that you might comfort me.
It is hard to pacify someone who is on the height of their fury. When someone is angry, it seems like that the person evolved because he/she seems not like his/her usual self. God is patient but when provoked, He really gets mad at us. Imagine what had happened during Noah’s time, to Sodom and Gomorrah and to the Israelites at Mt Sinai.
But the best thing about God is that He is so loving. No matter how angry he is, just like our parents out there, His wrath turns away that He might comfort us.
We have done so many things that are unpleasing in the eyes of God. We all know He hates sin but we still keep sinning. If we could do a thing so as not to provoke Him to fury, we should do it, right? So we should get rid of doing wicked things. We should obey what God says and we will not be misled for as long as the Holy Spirit convicts.
A lesson we should apply based from this verse is that no matter how annoyed are we, we should never forget to show how we love our fellowmen and that we do care for them.
